VTD 20th – HIGHLIGHT OF ACHIEVEMENT – The first helicopter emergency airport in Vietnam and the mark of VTD

On December 19, 2020, a helicopter emergency airport built on the roof of the building of the Institute of Orthopedics – under Military Medical Hospital 175 (Go Vap, Ho Chi Minh City) was officially put into use and declared. operated flights to transport the first patients to the hospital. This is the first helicopter emergency airport in Vietnam, marking a turning point in outpatient emergency operations, and making Military Hospital 175 become the first hospital in the country to have an emergency airport. Helicopters are licensed by the Ministry of Defense to operate, serving the emergency needs of patients. And VTD is honored to be the supplier and installer of the beacon system for this first heliport project in Vietnam.

Unlike the heliports on the roofs of some buildings in Vietnam such as Saigon Times Square Building or Bitexco Building… the heliport on the roof of the building Institute of Orthopedic Trauma is the first heliport to be fully equipped with ICAO-standard aviation beacon systems, including lighting systems: TLOF area side lights, FATO area border lights, navigation lights, heliport corner lights, landing lights, and landing lights. wind indicates the direction of the wind and the indicator light system does not. Experiencing flight training boards, especially night flight training, the beacon system has clearly promoted the role of guiding support for pilots in conditions of limited visibility, highly appreciated by flight commanders and pilots.

The successful implementation of the item of supply and installation of heliport aviation signal lights at the Institute of Orthopedics and Orthopedics, Military Hospital 175, once again affirms VTD’s position as the leading partner in the field of providing navigational aids in the aviation industry in Vietnam.

According to the statistics of Military Medical Hospital 175, by the end of October 2022, the Air Emergency Team of Military Hospital 175 has successfully performed hundreds of flights to rescue patients at sea. In which, the rate of patients with multiple injuries accounted for 33.4%; brain stroke 19% and patients with some other diseases such as decompression syndrome, myelitis, myocardial infarction… Time for emergency and transportation is mainly night flights (66.1%). The rate of patients being treated and transported successfully is 100%.

On March 7, 2023, the air ambulance team of Military Hospital 175 promptly brought the fisherman who had a stroke from Truong Sa to the mainland.

Accordingly, EC 225 helicopter number VN-8622 landed on the helipad on the roof of the building of the Institute of Orthopedic Trauma – Military Hospital 175 and promptly brought the fisherman who suffered a brain stroke from Song Tu Tay island, Truong Sa island district, Khanh Hoa province to the mainland for treatment.

Recently, at nearly 1 am on March 25, 2023, an EC225 helicopter bearing the number VN 8622 of the 18th Army carrying an airborne emergency team of Military Medical Hospital 175 also landed safely at the hospital’s parking lot, promptly brought the patient who is a fisherman suffering from decompression due to deep diving from Truong Sa island district for treatment.

These are just a few of hundreds of emergency flights that bring people from Truong Sa and surrounding areas to the airport on the roof of Military Hospital 175, helping patients to timely access medical services. sick.
